Hurricane Sandy, also known as “Superstorm Sandy” was the most destructive, deadly and costly storm of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season. Sandy’s wreckage was felt throughout the Caribbean; she first made landfall near Kingston, Jamaica right after becoming a hurricane, then strengthened to a Category 3 before hitting Cuba. She passed through the Bahamas, then eventually landed in New Jersey, where she continued drifting for several more days. Each ball on this piece signifies the number of categories the storm was.
